Easy come, easy go

Mother and her family thought she should stay in bed two weeks and be pampered. Grandfather Will Lee thought she should get up and do the family wash. Mother took the baby and went home to her Papa.

About two weeks later, Mother went into see about the baby, and she was gone. Will and Reuben had carried her home with them.

After a real disturbance in the neighborhood, Reuben brought the baby back to its mother.
Soon the divorce took place.

They said that in the divorce courtroom the judge looked down at the baby and said, "Poor little thing.”

Reuben asked Mother what he could do to help rear the baby. She told him to leave us alone. Never speak to us again. And that is what he did until I was 26, I guess.

Mother and baby went across the street and down away to Mama and Papa.

She helped her father in his store.
