My cousin Ethel (Aunt Sister’s second oldest daughter) roomed with us in Commerce when she attended East Texas State Teacher’s College. She was a popular young coed and her steady date was the captain of the football team. That was so glamorous to me!
She got to go to the football games and told me all about them. We lived across the street from the stadium.
There was a fence and shrubbery around the field. But, if I stood on the banister around our front porch, I could see the end zone and lots of the action–the game, the band, and the cheerleaders! My interest in football began on that porch
