When he took us on those drives, he loaded up his car with no windows, and the car was so full we almost fell out the sides. Uncle Bill, Aunt Eva, Aunt Lura, Beth Ann, Billy, Mother, Mama, and I. He was always jolly and so good to me.
Aunt Eva and Uncle Bill were very good to me all their lives. I adored them. They treated me like their second daughter, and I think that my family brought them more joy than their own daughter Beth Ann did.

I remember the first radio I heard. Uncle Bill let me listen with earphones, and I heard a lady singing “My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.” She sounded like she was over the ocean.
I never did listen to radio serials, though. Music was what I enjoyed on the radio.
